VOLUSIA, Fla. —A New Smyrna Beach area woman is accused of driving drunk with a child in the car.

Christy Bostic-Petrain, 38, was arrested about 1:45 a.m. Monday after a witness in the Walmart parking lot on State Road 44 allegedly saw her drink a beer, then speed away with an 11-year-old boy in the vehicle.

"There's a lady in the car next to me who is totally intoxicated. She's sitting here drinking beer," said the 911 caller. "She's sitting there drinking a beer the entire time her kid's in the store and she's spilling it. She smoked her cigarette backwards and she didn't even know."

Deputies spotted Bostic-Petrain allegedly driving erratically and pulled her over.

"She's driving very slowly but I don't want her to wreck with that little kid with her," said the 911 caller.

They said she had a beer on the seat and alcoholic beverages on the floor in the back.

Bostic-Petrain failed field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer test and deputies said she admitted she did something stupid.

The child was turned over to a relative.
